This short video explains in easy to understand language how ALS works and what it does to the body.
An estimated 5,000 people (nearly 14 people every day) in the U.S. are diagnosed with the disease each year. ALS is one of the most common neuromuscular diseases worldwide, and people of all races and ethnic backgrounds are affected. ALS most commonly strikes people between 40 and 60 years of age, but younger and older people also can develop the disease. No one is immune for developing ALS.
Funding research on Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is so very important. There is no cure and no life extending treatments at this time. ALS is a death sentence.
